What will a design cost?

My initial visit is free for clients within 15 miles of Billericay. Beyond 15 miles there is a charge to cover travel time and expenses.

If you don't think you need a plan, but would like some design advice, then you can book a consultation visit, charged at £50 for the first hour and £35 per hour for any further time.

Every garden and every client is different. It is therefore impossible to have a ‘one size fits all’ price scale. I prefer to quote individually for each client, their garden and the services they require.

However, to give a rough idea, fees for the Garden Outline Plan are typically in the range £600 to £2000. Fees for the full design service (outline plan, design details, planting plan and project monitoring) would be around 12% of the total garden spend, so on a garden build of £30,000 would be around £3600.

Clients are often surprised at how much a professionally installed garden costs. A well-designed garden is an investment and clients should look to budget between 4-10% of the property’s value.

Whilst every garden is different, another useful rule of thumb is that an average mix of hard and soft landscaping costs around £75/m2 (plus VAT) to supply and fit - excluding extras such as water features, lighting etc.

That said, I believe good design should be available to all. For those on a tighter budget, good design advice is even more important, making sure you make the best use of the money available.
